More than 40 world leaders attend historic march, United States' representative is a low-profile nobody.

Heads of states from around the world put their differences aside and came together in Paris to denounce terrorism and the recent terrorist attacks. More than 40 top leaders walked side-by-side during this historical march.

Highlights

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - "The nation that stands as the symbolic face of the war on terror was nowhere in sight," states NY Daily News. President Barack Obama was not in attendance; neither was his second in command, Joe Biden or Secretary of State, John Kerry.

Standing as United States representative was the seemingly unknown and low-profile French Ambassador, Jane Hartley. Many American's don't recognize Hartley, so suggesting she should represent as the face of the United States has upset many American's and those officials attending the march.

"If the highest-ranking official is an ambassador, I would say that's a serious mistake," said Republican Pete King (R-L.I.) to NY Daily News. "We are looking for cooperation from around the world ... we should have had someone there who is instantly recognizable (so people) see ...and say, 'That's the United States of America.'"

Although Obama has made several speeches showing support for France in the wake of their terrorist attacks, his presence was still preferred, especially since both Obama's and Biden's public schedules were clear on that day, according to NY Daily News. Kerry was all the way in India for a previously planned trip.

Obama was said to be caved up on Sunday, the afternoon of the historical march, watching football playoffs, according to Daily Mail.

"We have offered, from the first moment, our intel, our law enforcement and all of our efforts, and I really think that, you know, this is sort of quibbling a little bit," Kerry told NBC News.

According to NY Daily News, this rally brought the biggest crowd in Paris' history, with the official head count at more than 1.3 million. "Hundreds of thousands held up 'Je Suis Charlie' signs or carried candles and flowers."

"It will have a chilling effect that America did not show up (at the Paris rally)," said filmmaker Leo Herrera in front of the Park Slope Food Co-op in Brooklyn on Sunday, to NY Daily News. "This goes into the heart of what free speech is, so we should have a really visible reaction. I don't think Obama sent any message, and that's the problem."

"Today I walked the streets of Paris with the leaders of the world to say enough terrorism, the time has come to fight terrorism," Netanyahu said.
