PM Netanyahu's Clarion Call

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2015, as President Obama, his staff, and many Democrats in Congress boycotted his speech, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu sounded a trumpet, a clarion call, for World peace. The message he delivered was cogent and clear: Peace and unity for all people, both in Israel and the US, and within the Global Community, as we face an Iranian nuclear threat.

LOS ANGELES, CA - In essence, Prime Minister Netanyu identified Iran as a dangerous nuclear threat, not only for Israel, but for all the Global Community, due to Iran's expressed imminent, pressing nuclear intent. Prime Minister Netanyahu's invitation to speak to Congress came from John Boehner, Speaker of the House of Representatives, despite President Obama's opposition to his coming to Congress to speak.

In his controversial and courageous speech, Prime Minister Netanyahu, in a bold act of international leadership, pointedly noted that Iran is already well-known as a state sponsor of terrorism; one with nuclear aspirations to destroy Israel.

'Today, there looms the greatest threat that Israel and the Jewish people have ever had to face. That threat is a nuclear Iran,' Netanyahu said. According to the official online Fox News transcript of Israel's Prime Minister Netanyahu continued: "Today the Jewish people face another attempt by yet another Persian potentate to destroy us. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei spews the oldest hatred, the oldest hatred of anti-Semitism with the newest technology. He tweets that Israel must be annihilated."

Judeo-Christian biblical scholars know well that historically, Israel and the Jewish people are treasured in the eyes of God. Time and time again, in Holy Scripture, we have seen how Israel and the Jewish people have beat the all the odds in handling a virtual plethora of enemies for generations, those who wanted to harm and destroy them.

Comparing Iran to Hitler's Germany, Prime Minister Netanyahu went on to say, "But Iran's regime is not merely a Jewish problem, any more than the Nazi regime was merely a Jewish problem. The 6 million Jews murdered by the Nazis were but a fraction of the 60 million people killed in World War II. So, too, Iran's regime poses a grave threat, not only to Israel, but also the peace of the entire world."
Much controversy swirled around Prime Minister Netanyahu's presence at Congress, and the content of his speech. News coverage of this timely, historic speech was wide spread and mixed. Some critics and pundits questioned why he was allowed to speak to Congress at all, while he experienced numerous standing ovations by his supporters in the chambers.

In an effort to promote solidarity and unity, Prime Minister Netanyahu closed by calling us friends, encouraging and inviting us to stand together "Strong and resolute. May we neither fear nor dread the challenges ahead. May we face the future with confidence, strength and hope." In his closing, eliminating the line between Church and state, his final words were a blessing upon both Israel and the US:
'May God bless the state of Israel and may God bless the United States of America.'
