LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - Twenty blocks away, her owner, Nancy Franck, laid in a Mercy Medical Center hospital bed, unaware that her beloved companion had gone missing.

Franck had been staying at the hospital for the previous two weeks, after undergoing surgery for ovarian cancer.

Make the world better this Lent - Give something today

"We looked up and there was this dog that was just running across the lobby," Mercy Security Officer, Samantha Conrad told KCRG. "We started looking at the tags and it had the address. We saw how far away this dog had lived, as far as going at least fifteen blocks to get here. It was quite an amazing journey that this dog made."

Cissy traveled an impressive ways to reach the hospital her "mom" had been staying at.

According to Nancy's husband, Dale Franck, Cissy had been acting strange and anxious, like she wanted to go somewhere.

"She wanted to go see her mom," he said. "She was on a mission but she couldn't find the right elevator to take."

The couple's daughter, Sarah Wood, took the loyal pet up to see Nancy.

Lent is a journey, find your way today

"I said, 'did you sneak this dog in here?' She said, 'no, she sneaked herself in here, mom,'" Nancy explained. "That was great just being able to see her. That was perfect; I'm glad she thought of it."

Cissy had never been to the hospital before that journey; the family has no idea how their pet figured out the way to her missed "mom."
