LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - According to the Catholic News Agency, the president of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, quoted Prince's song "Sometimes it Snows in April.
The tweet included two stanzas, "Sometimes, sometimes I wish that life was never ending/ All good things they say, never last."
The Italian edition of L'Osservatore Romano mentioned Prince's death as well, siting his battle with digital music.
Writer Giuseppe Fiorentino recalled Prince's music being boycotted against the pop music market.
Fiorentino explained how Prince predicted music labels would "once again prevail over the reasons of true music" then fell "back into obscurity, despite his undeniable talent that led him to a very natural way from rock to funk, form disco to jazz."
Though Prince's music and personal life were questionable, the Vatican believes his sometimes Christian-inspired themes were worth the listen.
Prince claimed was a Jehovah's Witness who, regardless, engaged in drug-related activities and survived an overdose only one week before his death.
Though Prince was not perfect, his gift to humanity remains in his lyrics and impactful performances.
