Black conservatives: Chick-fil-A controversy is an example of liberal intolerance

'Being against gay marriage is not being anti-gay,' Project 21 says

The African-American conservative group Project 21 has something to say bout the recent flap over the Chick-fil-A controversy. Their message to liberals and big city mayors who wish to banish the fast-food restaurant chain due to their stand on traditional marriage simply states that they themselves are being intolerant.

Chick-fil-A has garnered widespread support for their opposition to gay marriage. Here, an employee offers free water to customers standing in line out in the hot sun.

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - "I think liberals are missing a vital point in their blind hatred of Chick-fil-A," Project 21's Demetrius Minor said. "Being against gay marriage is not being anti-gay."

Minor reiterates that the chain doesn't discriminate against anybody -- and it's incorrect to say they do.

"The last time I checked, Chick-fil-A wasn't expressing a desire for gays not to eat at their restaurants or seek employment with them," Minor said. Chick-fil-A simply supports traditional marriage.

Project 21's Derryk Green said it is leftists and homosexual activists have attempted to equate that opposition to "gay marriage" is somehow a form of bigotry.

"Chick-fil-A executives and others who share a 'traditional' or religious understanding of marriage are unfairly characterized as hateful because the idea of being against a redefinition of marriage has been deceitfully conflated with being against homosexuals," Green said.

"This is simply untrue and a projection of bigotry onto folks who don't deserve it," Green said.

Furthermore, Project 21's Stacy Washington says that if anyone is being bigoted, it's the liberals who want to boycott Chick-Fil-A.

"While screaming for tolerance, the left displays the ultimate example of intolerance by calling for boycotts and other acts meant to hurt Chick-fil-A's ability to do business," Washington said. "This includes liberal mayors and city councilmen willing to declare their cities off limits to Chick-fil-A franchises.

"Whether one agrees or disagrees with Chick-fil-A's corporate philosophy is a personal matter. Refusing to permit a business to operate is another quite un-American matter altogether."

Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy, made comments to Baptist Press in support of defining marriage as only between a man and a woman.

"I think we are inviting God's judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage,' and I pray God's mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to try to redefine what marriage is about."

The Chick-fil-A restaurant chain has been targeted by calls for a boycott of its restaurants by the homosexual lobby, liberal celebrities, leftist activists and big city mayors, including Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Firstly, I believe in free speech and the right to associate with whomever I want or do not want to. Boycott all you want, it's your right and prerogative. As for me, I will make a point at having some meals at Chick-fil-A. That's my right prerogative. Now does anyone out there have a list of homosexual run restaurants, stores, shops? Perhaps it's a good idea to avoid those shops, stores and restaurants and head for Chick-fil-A, and enjoy an inexpensive, but tasty and healthy meal. Who's coming along?

People for unconventional (gay) marriage are cool today. They get the attention and media sympathy,Catholics and Protestants, businesses, who stand for conventional(traditional man/woman)marriage are not cool. They get no sympathy, love or compassion from the media. That is the fact of our times. The democratic party that now has a hard line stance on unconventional marriages,is the party for the extreme left. Changing the meaning of conventional marriage is messing around with tradition. It is a little like saying that Babe Ruth never played for the Yankees along side of Lou Gehrig. Man/Women relationships are conventional, traditional and the meaning of that is un-alterable. It is not cool but it is quite correct. Marriage can at best only be redefined to be either conventional or unconventional as there is no such thing, and never will be,such a thing,as (gay)marriage.

Obama's use of the office of president to publicly support the homosexual destruction of marriage has emboldened the homosexual activists to become increasingly aggressive. Also, the NAACP, in 2011, voted to support same-sex marriage as a civil right. That emboldened Obama to go public with his long held support of gay marriage. These are facts, and as far as I know they are accurate. Black conservatives need to be talking to the rest of the blacks in this country. Maybe they can't get an audience there.

What are we coming to? Many of us see the "signs and symptoms" all around.... No nation can survive that rejects the "Natural Law" iterated by God to Moses in the Ten Commandments! Whether we "believe" this or not, the evidence is plain to see, before our very eyes! Be not fooled: God (and His Law) is not mocked and we reap what we sow! It's as plain and simple as that! "Repent..." is in order!

Be not deceived by the word 'Liberal", for such is one who wants & force others to go by his thoughts as if in full surety, thinking to be god, but in truth a "Hidden Hypocrite".
